Stink Bugs Solution Guide

These very annoying little bugs can be a cause for serious headache and, to make matters worse, they are not very easy to find, especially once they enter your home. The first step in ridding your home of these creatures permanently is understanding why they keep coming back.

Stink bugs hide in your garden or in and around your house in secluded areas, especially if you have certain plants or trees that they are attracted to (I will cover these later.) They are also attracted to fruits, vegetables, and other vegetations around the perimeter of your home.

The main TWO reasons stink bugs seek refuge in your home is to find heat and light. They see the light being emitted from your house; and once they sense heat, they then make a bee line for your dwelling.

I am sure you have noticed they tend to show up around cooler months. This is because they are trying to escape the cold and harsh elements of winter, such as wind, rain, and snow. Once they find their way inside your home, they may enter periods of suspended animation.

Over the course of the winter, the heat will encourage activity and before you know it, more and more stink bugs are finding their way into your home. (Stink bugs reproduce at an alarming rate and due to this high reproduction rate, they can take over an area very quickly.)

Once the bugs are in your house, they will release their odorous toxin that actually attracts more stink bugs. You may have tracked eggs back from your garden on your shoe, or the stink bugs may have targeted your house at random, but once they are on your property, they are not going anywhere unless you take serious action.

The odors they release actually linger for approximately 4-8 months, which is why they keep returning. Only once the matured adults are killed off in the home, and you have prevented a new wave of successors, can you finally consider yourself stink bug free.
